So what does Ti Couz mean? It means "The Old House". Their culinary creation comes from Brittany in Northern France. Traditionally they use buckwheat flour and only the privilege get to enjoy wheat crêpes. Here, they serve wheat flour crêpes and with stipulations. They only want their customers to enjoy the best and freshest taste so they refuse to let anyone take out or take home any of the crêpes. Be sure to be ready to enjoy a tasty snack, a meal, or a dessert and you can always bring friends. They would never dare dream of letting their customers walk away with a soggy or cold crêpe that does not live up to their standards, so take a seat and enjoy.
Even though Ms. Lin and I were fully stuffed with sushi nearby, we had to stop by for another treat. Despite it all, Ms. Lin still chose a savory treat. This was my first time, but she is a veteran here and she definitely chose the better crêpe. At first I was a little skeptical to her choice of Saucisse & Fromage (Sausage and Cheese). The crêpes are very thin but they do have an even filling inside. I enjoyed the subtle flavor and texture of the wheat crêpe. It's much better than the ones I got in Paris, France. I like the delicate texture yet maintaining a resilient chewiness.
I made the wrong choice to get their Citron-Sucre (Lemon and Sugar). Not sure if it was because the last crêpe they made was a savory/salty one because I felt my crêpe had an awkward salty flavor. Maybe it is the butter that they use, but I didn't like that the salty flavor overtook the sweetness and the lemon masked any sweetness as well. I started to monopolize Ms. Lin's crêpe. Odd enough, I always want what the other has and I am lucky enough that she will succumb to my demands and give me the goods ^_-.
The moral of the story is to always go with someone who will be willing to share the yummy goods and definitely order the savory crêpes here. If and when I come back, I am sticking to my love for meat and cheese or at least make sure that someone else there gets it and is willing to share or split.

What is San Francisco like? Well they are definitely an eclectic group where they favor the small businesses and frown upon conglomerates. SF likes to preserve their individuality and not become a cookie cutter mold of corporate America . I know it is corny but I just have to write, “Down with the Man!” Pirate Cat Radio and Café completely embodies these characteristics. Here they serve freshly made drinks and you can sit there listening to their own radio station. Ms. Lin and I decided to drop by on our way back to try their infamous Maple Bacon Latte.
At the counter they have many little treats from other small businesses. The mini cupcakes are what caught my attention. I just had to have the Red Velvet and Horchata! What? Isn’t that a drink? Well they have it now in cupcake form. It was actually pretty moist and tasty. The red velvet was a little bit on the drier side but still not too bad. Each mini cupcake was $1.
There was a jar of Salted Dark Chocolate Cookies from Lacajou. As soon as we heard salted, we had to try one. Each cookie is $2 and this one was definitely not worth the price. OMG that was one tough cookie and not in a good way. I feel that I would chip or crack my teeth trying to bite into it! @_@ The flavor didn’t seem too bad but way too tough.
So for the pièce de résistance we ordered one Bacon Maple Latte to try first before getting a separate cup for Ms. Lin. Let’s just say she didn’t bother getting anymore drinks after this. In my mind I thought there would be more bacon flavor or taste. It is just a regular latte with a few sprinkles of shaved bacon on top. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE BACON! The drink was really so-so for me and I wouldn’t ever crave it again. The latte itself wasn’t anything special and a little on the watery side for my liking.
All in all it was fun to check out one of SF’s landmark places. Service wasn’t that friendly when we ordered but it was fine. I think it’s just fun to check out but don’t have too high of an expectation like I did.

What's a girl to do after an extremely long day of line waiting for the SF Street Food Festival? Well continue to eat of course!!! lol Nothing stops me! I went to Farolito for Agua Frescas, Anthony's Cookies for 1 1/2 dozen of fresh baked cookies, Happy Hour Sushi at Tokyo A Go Go, Crepes at Ti Couz, Ice Cream at Bombay Ice Cream, and then dinner at Thai House Express to finish off the night. This is just how I roll! =D I really need to think about investing in antacids in my purse!
Since Ms. Lin was able to find a great spot in the Mission District, we didn't really want to give it up! lol We kept trying to find more and more things to do. Across the street I saw Bombay Ice Cream. This trip to SF I have been sick most of the time and hadn't even had the chance to go to my favorite Bi-Rite Creamery. I took this as a sign that I needed to try Bombay Ice Cream since I haven't had any good ice cream this trip. The market adjoined was closed but the ice cream shop was empty. As soon as we walked in a guy approached us to help me order. They have a policy of trying only 2 samples so I had to choose wisely! The guy was super nice and helpful. He ended up giving me 3 samples and was very patient. I ended up ordering a pint with Mango Rose and a little bit of Rose Petal. The mango rose was just the right mix of mango and aromatic flavor of rose. I love the real rose petals in the rose petal ice cream and taste the freshness. They have a lot of unique flavors that blend fragrant spices, flowers, and fruits together. I really crave the delectable mango rose and rose petal ice cream! Wish they were down here so I can stock up in my freezer! =D I've just added a great new ice cream place to my repertoire.
