Fantastic Donuts are just too cute! I saw the pics on Instagram and have bookmarked the place for a long time. Since I promised to meet Gourmet Pigs for lunch in LA, I decided that I need to make an extra stop since I drove all the way up.  😁
I like to buy goods and I looooove cute things, so this place was perfect! Even though I was the only one eating them, I needed at least 3 for selfies! Lol To be honest it isn't about the food as much as it is about the super cuteness!!!
The man working there was very friendly and probably used to people coming for the cute donuts.  I asked for his help and he was happy to oblige.  He explained the different choices.  I was really looking for the cutest donut! Lol I even bought flavors I detest, purely because I wanted the cute face! 😇
I got the super adorable pig, cow, and fox set.  How can you not buy the donuts with a face a small donut hole decorated with an animal face in between! Well I couldn't, so I loaded up on donuts :).  They actually tasted good as well, so that was a bonus.  I ate it over 3 days and even on the 3rd day, it tasted fine.  You wouldn't think this place is a hole in the wall but it's in a tiny plaza in K-town.  Very packed plaza and small place, but worth it for the selfie photos and cuteness! 😉

There has been a plethora of restaurants opening up in the center off of Lake Forest. I decided to try out the Oke Poke with some friends because it was quick and should be reasonably priced. They weren't too busy and the line seemed to be moving steadily. It's an assembly line ordering system that is super popular these day. At each station you tell them what items you would like added and the only difference in pricing at the end will be how many scoops of raw fish you receive.
The place was very clean and new. They were handing samples out but of course not while I was in line >=P. lol I decided to go for tortilla chips as my carb because I was more in a nacho mood. There are pre-made bowls that you can choose from but I am a rebel and like to mix it up!
Next you can choose your add ons : Onions, Cucumber, Scallions, Ginger, Seaweed, Wasabi, Crab, Masago, Bean Sprouts, and Avocado. I got everything except the ginger, cucumber, and bean sprouts. It was nice that they had the crab and avocado option without additional charge. Besides, these are really filler items that make the bowl look more plentiful.
Most important comes the fish that you would like to select : Ahi Tuna, Salmon, Spicy Tuna, Albacore, Yellow Tail, Shrimp, Scallops, Tako. I chose to have the maximum amount of fish in my poke bowl... duh! lol I chose the salmon, spicy tuna, yellow tail, albacore, and scallop for my bowl. The scallop was not the freshest so I may skip that next time. They are baby scallops that you can pick up from any supermarket.
Now it is time to pick the flavor of your bowl. You can choose from these sauces : Oke, Heat, Spicy Mayo, Okeyaki, Miso, Oke Sesame. I will tell you right now that I chose EVERYTHING lol! The only thing I didn't want was too much heat because it would drown out too much of the flavor. Not that having every sauce didn't do that already, but it was flavorful in a good way! If you want a flavor blast then this combo is the right choice for you!
For the finishing touch, you can choose the toppings you would like : Toasted Sesame Seeds, Crunchy Onion, Garlic Flakes, Furikake, Chili Flakes. I got everything except the chili flakes because those tend to get stuck in my teeth or mouth. The garlic flakes are really garlic chips that are WONDERFUL! PS I love garlic!
My friends decided to go light and just have sesame oil on their fish, which they were just okay with. When you put so little sauce and flavor then the natural taste of the fish is the main seasoning. Unfortunately for them, the fish was not necessarily super fresh so they were a little let down. For poke places, I wouldn't expect them to use the best quality for their poke bowls of course.
They tried mine and thought it tasted good. In reality, all my sauces and add ons covered any fishy taste. O=D This is not true poke of course. More like the Chipotle of poke where they mix everything together and call it so. Still, it hits the spot sometimes and the prices are reasonable for raw fish. I'd probably come back here in the future.

This is my first time back to Taiwan since I was 5 years old and I was super excited at all the possibilities! Needless to say I brought empty suitcases and filled them up to the brim before coming back! lol One of the places that I was most excited to visit was 7 Eleven as I heard it was completely different from what the US offered. There is literally one of these or another chain that is 24/7 every block or half block in Taipei, Taiwan.
I was happy to find out that there was one DIRECTLY across from my hotel and needless to say I was there every day at least once or more. The one thing that I was looking forward to the most was getting my fill on Yakult! I HATE that the US charges a ridiculous CRV on those tiny @$$ bottles, which cannot be recycled! I would be okay with the charge if you could actually recycle it. In Taiwan, there is no such thing as CRV and the drink is so cheap. It's only 8 NT and it was worth it! I probably drank over 30 of those suckers in the short week I was there lol.
The 7 Eleven also offers a variety of prepared foods and what I loved was the onigiris! Cheap and tasty. They are offered as combo meals too, but I didn't quite like the drinks so I just started buying them individually. The onigiris run about 25 NT, which is less than $1! Oh how I already miss Taiwan! lol My favorite flavor was the wasabi salmon.
Each store may offer a slightly different choice. Some offered tea eggs or odens, which was nice. You can purchase a wide variety of snacks and drinks. There are some great instant noodles that you can buy and immediately add hot water to and eat on the spot.
The fun part is you are 'rewarded' for shopping there. They have monthly programs of special items that you can purchase at a discount price once you collect enough stickers. Somehow in the short time we were there, we collected enough stickers and ended up trading it in 4 times to collect the item. Of course all the desirable items like the cute blanket and footwarmer were sold out everywhere, but we still chose something fun. Be sure to check out the 7 Elevens if you've never been to Taiwan. I already miss them! =9

Ms. Lin Guide and I were down in San Diego for my birthday and my goal as always is to find a fun new place to try.  We found Grater Grilled Cheese Bistro nearby and I was sold as soon as I heard that they offered a Lobster Grilled Cheese Sandwich! Fair warning, Google Maps had some issues finding this place so call them if you get lost.
Even though the grilled cheese sandwich was not as gooey as I had hoped, but the taste was great.  The lobster grilled cheese sandwich was made with their signature cheese blend, butter fried lobster, crab, and their signature Sierra Nevada pale ale beer chipotle aioli.  I have to say that they use some pretty tasty and hearty cheeses as their base.  If you like sharp cheeses and a stronger flavor, then they are definitely your place.  The lobster grilled cheese had a nice spicy kick to the palate along with the savory melted cheeses.
All in all it is a pretty solid grilled cheese place.  My lobster grilled cheese was only $11.50 plus tax, which is pretty reasonable.  Of course you don't get that much lobster, but it was still very tasty.  I like that the toast was nice and buttery.  I would definitely come back here if I lived closer.

Urban Plates offers a healthy selection at a reasonable price.  Their meals all range around $10, depending on what you order and if you add anything else on.
Everything is already prepared and under heat lamps waiting to be served.  Kind of reminiscent of the Chipotle approach.  They are constantly cooking fresh meats and fish so that the food you get hasn't been sitting there too long.
First choose what kind of meal you would like.  Ranging from salads, sandwiches, pizzas or just a combo.  Typically I choose the meat/fish plus two sides combo.
You can also order everything online so it will be ready to be picked up when you come.  However... the quality varies when it is packed and ready to take home versus picking out the goods yourself.
For meat, I always choose the grilled steak.  They offer chicken, oven baked salmon, and more.  I do not like my meats over cooked.  The first time my friend bought me the meal and the steak was charred, but still flavorful.
When I went to the store myself, I made sure to get some rare cuts.  There is always a pro and con to things as I liked the meat was more tender and rare, but the flavor was not as rich.
All the combos come with a toasted focaccia bread.  They offer cold and hot sides.  The cold sides tend to be very healthy and all vegetarian.  Sorry, but not for me.  O=)  I got the mac & cheese and mashed potatoes.  They were just okay.
The grilled chicken was surprisingly tender and I liked that the skin was still on.  I know a lot of people do not like to eat the skin because it's 'unhealthy'.  For the sides, the brocolini and Brussels sprout with turkey bacon were very fresh and nicely cooked.  I like the Brussels sprout because it is the most flavorful with a hint of lemon.
My friend let me try her dessert one time and I really enjoyed the cheesecake.  The crust is nicely flavored and adds a nice crunch with the cheesecake.  It's light and refreshing, but for the price... you could almost buy another meal.
They offer an assortment of freshly made fruit drinks to choose from.  Feel free to ask them for a taste before purchasing.
Everything is serve yourself and self seating.  So just pick up your try and find a seat.
All in all the food is solid and if you don't want to spend too much money but still be full, I would recommend this place.

Blaze Pizza has been rapidly growing its franchise in Southern California.  They are part of the new trend where you can create your own pizza and it'll be freshly cooked in 90 seconds in their fire oven.  I really like the location in UCI as the service is friendly and efficient.  They load quite a bit of toppings onto the pizza. This location tends to get pretty busy as lots of hungry students and locals frequent this place.
The price is pretty reasonable for $7.95 to create your own pizza with all the toppings you want.  First you can select your sauce from the white sauce, red sauce, spicy red sauce and more.  I usually try a combo of the spicy red sauce and white sauce, but lately I like just using the white sauce for a sweeter flavor.  As you can tell, I have been quite often.
Next you get to select your cheeses.  I looooove cheese so I tend to use almost all the cheeses.  Warning, if you don't love love blue cheese then I wouldn't recommend adding it on because it will have a kick.  I personally adore the ovalini mozzarella that simply melts into a gooey yummy mess!

As for meats, there is quite a selection but I have to warn you that the more meats you choose the saltier the pizza gets.  Due to this factor, I actually limit the amount of meat choices on my pizza because I like a lighter but still tasty flavor.  Of course some nights, you just have to make it a meat lover's pizza.
They have a nice selection of veggie and seasonings to add on.  I love that they have chopped garlic and roasted garlic to add.  Typically I don't choose many veggies, no surprise there.  However, I do like adding the arugula at the end.  They don't cook the arugula so just ask for it after your pizza comes out and they will add it on the top.
One of my favorite things to get is the S'mores pie and ask for it to be toasted.  Mmmm good! As you need to eat this while it is fresh and hot, I usually eat dessert first! =D  They also offer a blood orange lemonade, which I thought sounded wonderful... but alas... it's just sweet tangy syrup with no real blood orange taste.
All in all, I think Blaze Pizza is great and always tastes fresh.  Yes, I have been to Pieology but I like Blaze Pizza more.  Be sure to go on Pi day (3/14) as they offer pizzas for only $3.14.  It's a great deal but expect a long line! lol

Who doesn't love ice cream and donuts?  Now imagine them harmoniously together in one bite! I decided to finally try Afters for dessert, even though it is a bit far but worth the trip.  They were pretty packed the night I went and very hard to find.  There isn't really a sign that pops out for them.  I kept circling the plaza and had to look real hard to find them.  What helped that night was that there was a crowd of people waiting.
The line was way out the door but you could tell that it must be good or something special to make it so popular.  Most of the crowd were teenagers and college students.  The interior is very simple and the line wrapped around inside.  They have tables outside for you to sit and eat there if you like.
I liked the variety of ice cream flavors they had.  Not your typical flavors, which is what I love.  My favorite is the Cookie Batter.  It is really good! They have Thai Ice Tea, Vietnamese Ice Coffee, Cookie Monster, and more.
If there isn't too much of a line, I would suggest to ask and try some of their flavors.  You can choose to just eat the ice cream or make it into an ice cream sandwich.  You can either get it glazed or without it.  Personally, I like glazed but it does tend to get heavy because it is all bad sugars for you.  So bad, but so good O=D.
The first time I went, I got two sandwiches and could barely even finish one.  Still, I ate the yummy ice cream! The Cookie Monster is very colorful and just fun to eat but flavor wise, it was just okay.  Surprisingly the Cookie Batter was great and if you add a little Captain Crunch, it would really add to the texture.
All in all I really enjoyed the place because you can't find many good ice cream places in Orange County like you could in San Francisco.  I heard the owner say they are thinking of opening down in Tustin, which would be great and I would go more often.  The sandwiches are more for splurging.  If I went more often, I would just get the ice cream and enjoy a bunch of different flavors.  =)
